Terms of use

Last updated September 27, 2026

Mainthread is my software studio. I’m David Jones, and these are the terms for using what I make. By using the services you agree to them. The privacy policy explains what happens to your information.

Contents

  1. What these terms cover
  2. Who may use the services
  3. Your account
  4. Acceptable use
  5. Your content and mine
  6. Zoning Signal and public records
  7. Genesis
  8. Changes and ending
  9. No warranty
  10. Limitation of liability
  11. Governing law
  12. Changes to these terms

What these terms cover

“The services” means mainthread.ai, Genesis, Zoning Signal (its website, its agent service and its phone app once released) and the Mainthread account that signs you in to them. Ascend Log, published by Ascend Lifting League, has its own terms. If you and I have a signed agreement for paid work, that agreement governs wherever it differs from these terms.

Who may use the services

Anyone may read mainthread.ai and Zoning Signal. To create an account you must be at least 18 and able to agree to these terms. Genesis is by invitation.

Your account

One account is for one person. Give accurate information when you sign up, keep your sign-in to yourself, and tell me at david@mainthread.ai if you think someone else has used it. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.

Your Mainthread account can sign you in to more than one app. Each app keeps its own data, and you can leave one app or delete the whole account as the privacy policy describes.

Acceptable use

Use the services lawfully and in good faith. In particular, please don’t:

  • try to reach accounts or data that aren’t yours, or get around the limits that protect them
  • probe, overload or disrupt the services or the systems behind them
  • use the services to harass anyone, send spam, or spread malware
  • upload anything you don’t have the right to share
  • pass yourself off as someone else

AI agents and other programs are welcome on Zoning Signal through the paths made for them, zoningsignal.com/mcp and the site’s robots.txt rules, at a pace that leaves room for everyone else.

Your content and mine

What you upload or write in the services stays yours. You give me permission to store, copy, process and display it as needed to run the services for you, including through the providers named in the privacy policy. That permission ends when the content is deleted, apart from backups that expire on their own.

The writing, designs, software and readings I publish are mine. You’re welcome to read them, link to them and quote short passages with credit to Mainthread or to the app they came from.

Zoning Signal and public records

Zoning Signal reads agendas, minutes and staff reports that local governments in Florida publish as public records, and reports what each decision changes. The records themselves belong to the public. The readings are my interpretation, prepared with the help of AI tools, and they can contain mistakes or fall behind the record.

Zoning Signal is for information. It is not legal, real estate, financial or other professional advice. Before you rely on anything in it, check the original record with the government that published it.

Genesis

Genesis job listings come from employers’ public postings, which can change or close at any time. I work to make each search useful, and the outcome of any application or search is yours and the employer’s to decide.

Changes and ending

I may change, pause or stop any part of the services. When a change affects your account, I’ll give you notice where I can, and time to take your information with you. You can stop using the services and delete your information at any time. I may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the services or other people at risk.

No warranty

The services are provided as they are and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, I make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. I don’t promise the services will be uninterrupted or error free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, I’m not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or opportunities, arising from your use of the services or your reliance on anything in them. My total liability for any claim about the services is limited to the greater of the amount you paid me for that service in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100.

Some places don’t allow these limits. Where that’s the case, they apply as far as the law there permits.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about the services will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you and I agree to their jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

When I change these terms, I’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, I’ll tell account holders by email or in the app before it takes effect. Using the services after that means you accept the new terms.

Questions about these terms: david@mainthread.ai.
